Anthony Davis Too Much For Trail Blazers

Anthony Davis recorded a double-double with 30 points and 15 rebounds and Carmelo Anthony added 24 points and eight rebounds as the Lakers snapped a three-game losing streak with a 99-94 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers Wednesday night in Los Angeles.

Portland (21-31) got 30 points and five rebounds from Norman Powell, 19 points from Anfernee Simons, and Jusuf Nurkic finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists.

The Lakers stormed out of the gate building a 28-16 lead heading into the second quarter thanks to poor shooting from the Blazers in the first, making just 25% of their field goals including 0-for-8 from three-point range.

Portland cut the deficit to one-point heading into halftime after scoring 37 points in the second quarter with Simons and Powell combining for 23 points on 8-for-10 shooting in the period.

The Blazers took a 75-72 lead into the fourth quarter after a bucket from Dennis Smith Jr. to end the third, but mistakes would prove costly down the stretch.

The Blazers committed eight turnovers in the fourth and sloppy defense put the Lakers on the line for 19 free throws. The Lakers ended the night +12 at the line.

The Blazers held a 24-1 edge in points off turnovers.

With the loss, Portland has now dropped five of their last six games.

Up Next- The Trail Blazers return to Portland to meet the OKC Thunder Friday night at Moda Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.
