Beavers 1-5 at halfway point. Can they get it turned around?

It is the halfway point for Oregon State Football. By all accounts this season has been less than stellar, more disappointing than anyone thought it would be. The most important statistic of course is points. And the Beavers have scored 116 points in the first six games. That is an average of 19.3. Their opponents have scored 270 which averages out to 45 per game. That pretty much tells the story of the season.

At this juncture of the season its interesting to reflect a bit and try and design a second-half that has positive undertones. I am the first to admit there are glaring issues facing both sides of the football. The players know it.....the coaches certainly know it and Beaver Nation is well aware.

Six games left to show the world this team can get better. They have faced a gauntlet the past three weeks with WSU,UW AND USC.  Now its the Buffaloes at Reser Saturday at 1:pm. Colorado and Oregon State two of the three teams in the Pac-12 that are winless. (CAL the other)  This could be a breakthrough game for Oregon State. Colorado reeling from a tough loss to Arizona and wanting very badly to beat up on a Beaver team that just can't put together a decent four-quarter performance.

The start against the Trojans was just about as bad as it gets. But one thing about this OSU team. They play hard and they WANT to play better. The second half was decent last week. Yes, they were outscored 17-7 but did show they have heart and QB Darrel Garretson looked much sharper.

Pregame coverage on 1190 KEX is live from Parker Plaza Saturday Morning at 9:am with Chad Doing and Travis Demers. The network coverage with me and Steve Preece gets goin at 11. And its Giant Killer weekend. The 50th anniversary of their incredible season will be honored at the game!!
