Beavs remain #2 in the nation after sweeping Hartford

The latest D1 baseball poll came out this morning. The Beavers now 12-0 on the season remain in the number two spot behind Florida.

The Beavers are now 12-0 for the fifth time in progrfam history. The last time they started 12-0 was in 2013 when they won their first 15 games.

 Trevor Larnach hit a sixth-inning grand slam and Grant Gambrelltossed seven scoreless innings as the Oregon State baseball team swept Hartford via a 5-0 win Sunday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. Larnach's sixth-inning round tripper marked his fifth home run of the season and sent the Beavers to their 12th consecutive victory to open the season. Oregon State has been 12-0 five times in program history, and the start is the best since the 2013 team won its first 15 games. Gambrell was sharp in his third start of the season, holding the Hawks (1-7 overall) to four hits and a walk in seven innings. He struck out six and tossed 103 pitches – 67 strikes – to improve to 2-0 on the year. Hartford starter Nathan Florence held the Beavers in check through the first five innings. Oregon State managed a solo run in the fourth on a passed ball, but the Beavers loaded the bases with consecutive singles by Steven KwanCadyn Grenier and Adley Rutschman with one out in the sixth. Hartford went to reliever Drew Farkas, and his 1-1 pitch to Larnach was sent over the wall in left for the grand slam. Florence ended the afternoon allowing four runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks. He dropped to 0-2 on the year.
