KNOXVILLE-The Oregon State Women's basketball team is back in Knoxville....this time to potentially play Tennessee for a trip to the Sweet Sixteen. The locals welcomed the Beavs with the OSU fight song....nice touch,. However for Oregon State to top the Vols...., they first must take care of a very talented team from nearby Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Western Kentucky Lady Toppers are the 11-seed in the NCAA tourney after winning the Conference USA tourney. Oregon State in the big dance for a fifth straight season after a 23-7 regular season mark and a 14-4 finish in the Pac-12.
The Beavers are traveling for the first time in the past four seasons in the NCAA Tournament. It represents a different set of challenges. Like a six-hour journey via bus, plane and bus to the team hotel here in Knoxville. Add to it a three-hour time change. The Beavers tip off tomorrow morning at 9:am Pacific against WKU. The players are unfazed by all of the noise included in the NCAA tourney. At a morning news conference Senior Marie Gulich said the Pac-12 got this team prepared for anything they will face in the tournament. The winner of tomorrow's game will take on the winner of the Liberty-Tennessee game. The Lady Vols are the three seed and thus have a home court advantage.
