Coach Jonathan Smith was overall pleased with his team's effort in the first Spring Scrimmage with Smith as the new Head Coach. There was (no surprise) some sloppy moments that the coach alludes to but there were some impressive performances.
Since it was part practice part scrimmage there are no official stats but the Quarterback battle is very inreresting.......Senior Jake Luton was shaky at first and came on late in the scrimmage to throw a short TD pass to WR Timmy Hernandez. Red shirt Sophomore Conor Blount look pretty impressive during his time running the Beaver offense. He threw a five yard slant to Hernandez and also threw to #18 for a 30 yard pickup on perfect long lob early in the scrimmage. Stay tuned for Hernandez and Luton interviews soon here on the Rip City Radio website;
