Beavers top UCLA 4-1. Take series and now go for sweep!

posted by Ron Callan -

The Beavers dramatic win over UCLA Friday should guarantee one of eight national seedings in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. However, history says you better wait after what has happened to OSU in past years with the NCAA committee.

The 4-1 win over UCLA was a typical win for the now 44-9-1 Beavs. A pitcher's duel thru five innings....Oregon State broke this game open in the fifth.

Tyler Malone grounded back to relief pitcher Garrett Barker with one down and the bases loaded, driving in the game’s first run.

UCLA brought in right-handed reliever Kyle Mora versus Kyle Nobach, and the Oregon State senior drove a 3-2 pitch over the left field wall for his fourth home run of the season.

Oregon State 4 UCLA 1 the final. Today's game has added drama. Thanks to Washington winning the first two games against Stanford in Seattle. A Beaver win today and a Stanford loss would hand OSU the regular season Pac-12 championship. Pregame coverage on Rip City Radio is 1:30 with Mike Parker on the call. First Pitch at 2:02 pm.
