The Beavers got off to a solid start in game one of the College World Series in Omaha. Michael Gretler had an RBI single in the second inning and the Beavs led Arkansas 1-0. But in the bottom of the fourth inning a controversal play cost the Beavers on the scoreboard and handed momentum to the Razorbacks.
Adley Rutschman was called for runner interference heading into second base on a force play. The play cost Oregon State a run and Arkansas and their fan base seemed energized. Rutschman said in the post-game news conference he was just trying to get out of the way.
Then Oregon State starter Luke Heimlich lost his control and after cruising the first four innings...Heimlich just couldn't throw strikes. The end result.....four Arkansas runs in the top of the fifth. The Razorbacks take game one and are now nine innings away from their first ever CWS title. The Beavers can even the series today in Omaha. Bryce Fehmel gets the start for Pat Casey. Pregame coverage on Rip City Radio 620 begins at 3:30pm with Mike Parker and Jim Wilson.
