Girls Fights Off Kidnapper With Cup Of Hot Coffee

Bruce Hipkins

Three girls managed to fight off a 22-year-old man when he tried to kidnap one of them. Police say that Bruce Hipkins was stalking the girls last Friday, and as they left a gas station convenience store in Millington, Michigan, he grabbed one of them by the hair and told her she was coming with him.

The girls weren't going to let him get away and started kicking and punching him. He let the girl go and tried to grab another but was forced to flee on foot after they threw a cup of steaming hot coffee in his face.

"The girls turned around and started punching him," Millington Police Chief Jason Oliver told ABC12. "They threw coffee, Slurpees. They used whatever they had.”

The girls then fled to a nearby hotel and called 911. None of the girls were injured during the attempted kidnapping.

Police managed to track down Hipkins a few blocks away and arrested him on charges of unlawful imprisonment, assault and battery, and two counts of criminal sexual conduct. He is being held at the Tuscola County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
