'The Ron Burgundy Podcast' Arrives February 7: Listen To The New Trailer

Just as we teased in late 2018, Ron Burgundy is preparing for his big comeback and he's doing so with his very own podcast, which is set to drop February 7.

On Friday (January 31), two trailers for the iHeartRadio and Funny or Die-produced podcast were released and it's clear that Burgundy has missed his time in the spotlight. In the video teaser, the famed anchorman is seen asking an off-camera guest all the important first world questions. What are your thoughts on climate change? Is it hard for you to eat chicken? What do you do about the haters? Can chickens have epilepsy? At the end of the clip, cameras pan to the other side of the room to see that the guest at hand is none other than an oversized mascot-looking chicken. Meanwhile, in the audio-only teaser, Burgundy has to figure out the answer to an even bigger question: What exactly is a podcast? "Right now, I'm a little terrified because I don't know what a podcast is," he says, before asking for live callers and realizing that podcasts don't require any of that. "If you are listening to this and downloaded it by mistake, please turn it off now. Turn it off. I didn't sleep because I was worried sick about the fact that we were going to record the show in my haunted garage."

If you haven't already heard, "The Ron Burgundy Podcast" will see the comedian engage in conversation with a variety of behind-the-scenes characters. In true Ron Burgundy fashion, these episodes will incorporate a fair amount of flare as he addresses important issues like bullying, meditation and more. Burgundy has signed on for two 12-episode seasons. New episodes are scheduled to arrive every Thursday, with season two expected to air in mid 2019.

Vogue recently rounded up their list of their most-excited pop culture events of 2019 and it's a threshold of early-2000s nostalgia, with the "Burgundy Podcast" smack dab in the middle of the list. "Ron Burgundy of Anchorman is coming to the airwaves via Funny or Die and we can't wait," the outlet wrote. "In a climate in which media is constantly under attack, we need as many voices of reason as we can get." Among the other notable items featured on the list include Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club, a new studio album by Carly Rae Jepsen, and, of course, the upcoming reboot of The Hills.
