Beavers, Ducks prepare for epic Civil War. 12,000 + in Eugene for game #1

It is finally here. Civil War week for Women's basketball here in the state of Oregon. Two of the most dynamic and successful programs in the country battle again for supremacy in the Pacific Northwest , in the Pac-12 and in the national polls.

The Oregon State Beavers have owned this rivalry for the past few years. In the last 15 meetings the Beavers have won 14. Last year the two teams split. I included the video of the first game for your enjoyment. It was one of the greatest basketball games I have ever seen...Men or Women. Ask anyone who was there. Both teams played their hearts out and it went to Overtime. Katie McWilliams had the dagger in OT to give Oregon State the victory. The video is below this script. Then Oregon ended their 14 game losing streak to the Beavers with a 75-63 win in Eugene. Friday's game no doubt huge for Oregon....undefeated in conference play and coming off a 40-point win at Stanford. The Ducks will try to show that they are legitimate contenders to win the national championship. They are ranked #3 in the latest AP Poll. The Beavers have won the Pac-12 title three of the past four seasons and are currently ranked 9th in the country. They have redshirt sophomore Destiny Slocum as their offensive anchor along with an incredible array of three point shooters. The second game on Monday has been selected as the Big Monday game on ESPN 2. Both games will be sellouts.
