The Portland Trail Blazers have lost Jusuf Nurkic for the remainder of the season due to a gruesome leg injury suffered last night against the Brooklyn Nets. No timetable has been set for his return, but Nurkic did undergo successful surgery in Portland today and is expected to make a full recovery.
Here is a great piece on Nurk's future from Kerry Eggers of the Portland Tribune dealing with his injury, recovery, and who might be able to fill his shoes while he is out.
Nurkic is my favorite player in the NBA and a critical part of the Trail Blazers success. He was having the best season of his career averaging 15 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists per game. Portland has a record of 109-66 since he was acquired in a trade with the Denver Nuggets.
Today was a rough day for everyone in Rip City. I had a discussion with Blazers TV Analyst, Lamar Hurd about the loss of Nurkic and how the team can move forward the rest of the season and into the playoffs without him.
