Harkless scored a team-high 26 points including the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer as the Trail Blazers edge the Lakers 104-101 Tuesday night in Los Angeles. Harkless connected on nine of his 14 shots and pulled down eight rebounds.
''Mo had been scoring and hitting shots the whole quarter,'' Damian Lillard said. ''He's had a lot of moments when he came up big for us. The way he rose up and took that shot showed a lot of confidence, and you see what the result was.''
Harkless scored the final 12 points of the game for the Trail Blazers.
Enes Kanter had another strong outing finishing with 22 points and 16 rebounds and Lillard added 20 points and eight assists. Seth Curry had the hot-hand all night finishing with 19 points off the bench on 7-for-13 shooting including 5-for-8 from three-point range.
With the win and the Thunder's win over the Rockets in OKC, the Blazers can clinch the three seed in the West with a win tomorrow night against the Kings in their season finale at Moda Center.
Los Angeles (37-45) finished up their sixth-straight season without a playoff berth. Before the game, Magic Johnson announced he was stepping down as President of Basketball Operations for the Lakers.
Portland (52-29) has won 13 of their last 16 games.
