Tuesday woes continue for Beaver Baseball

What happens to the Oregon State Baseball team on Tuesdays?

For the fifth straight game played on a Tuesday the Beavers come up short. This time it was Gonzaga at Goss losing 6-3. Adley Rutschman hit a solo homer early in the contest and that was it until the bottom of the ninth when trailing 6-1 the Beavers rallied but came up short. They actually had the potential winning run at the plate in that ninth inning but pinch hitter Greg Fuchs struck out with the bases loaded to end the game.

The big question about this aberration on an otherwise incredible season is the potential impact on their RPI and a potential national seeding. The Beavers Tuesday troubles started on March 26 losing to Portland 5-1 in Hillsboro. April 2nd a 4-3 loss to San Diego State at Goss. On April 9th a Civil War 12-8 loss to the Ducks. Then the trip to Reno and the April 23rd loss to the Wolfpack 7-6 in 10.

So here comes Oklahoma State. Three big non-conference games at home beginning Friday at 5:35pm. Details to come here on this website!!

Here also the official game story from last night courtesy of Oregon State Athletics!!

Adley Rutschman hit his 15thhome run of the season and Zack Zalesky drove in two in a ninth-inning rally but Oregon State dropped a 6-3 decision to Gonzaga Tuesday night at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

Zalesky hit a two-run double in the ninth, and the Beavers (31-11-1 overall) later loaded the bases but Gonzaga's Daniel Naughton got pinch hitter Greg Fuchs on a strike three to end the game.

Rutschman hit his 26th career home run in the fourth to put the Beavers on the board after a three-run top half of the inning by the Bulldogs. Gonzaga, however, pushed ahead further with two in the sixth and one more in the seventh.

Dylan Pearce made his first career start and retired the first nine batters he faced. He, however, got into a jam in the fourth, and Gonzaga's Troy Johnston hit a two-run home run in the inning to put the Bulldogs up 3-0. Pearce, who was charged with the loss to drop to 1-2, was relieved by Andrew Wallingafter throwing 36 pitches.

Nick Trogrlic-Iverson worked five innings for the Bulldogs (24-17), and held the Beavers to two hits and a run. He picked up the win to improve to 2-2 this season.
