What a busy week for Adley Rutschman! The publication, "Collegiate Baseball", has named him the National Collegiate Player of the year. He has also been named the Pac-12 Player of the Year. He is a finalist now for the "Golden Spikes" award which honors the Nation's top player. The awards ceremony for that is June 13 in Omaha. He also picked up the Oregon State Male Athlete of the Year at last night's "Benny Awards" on campus (Mikayla Pivec of the Women's Basketball team is the Female Athlete of the Year).
Now, Adley must focus on baseball this weekend. Cincinnati and the Beavers in game one of the Corvallis Regional tomorrow at Goss. 6:30 the pregame coverage begins on Rip City Radio 620. Mike Parker and Jim Wilson will have the call.
Then another potential distraction.....but a pretty good one for Adley next Monday. It is the 2019 MLB draft. Will the Sherwood High School alum be the first player selected in the draft by the Baltimore Orioles or will they trade their pick. So much speculation.
For Adley, the most comforting time this weekend might just be behind the plate helping the Beavers defend their National Championship!!!
