Wayne Tinkle no doubt is breathing a big sigh of relief. Two of his standout players tested the NBA waters and then said no thanks this spring. Tres Tinkle will return for his senior year after going to a few NBA workouts. He did get some good advice about next year and how to impress NBA scouts and GM's. Of course, Coach and father is thrilled to have him back for one more season. He told Kerry Eggers of the Portland Tribune:
"Totally made my week, when Tres said he wanted to come back," the senior Tinkle says. "He has some unfinished business as an individual, and also with some team goals. It's great for Beaver basketball, and I hope it will be great for Tres."
Then yesterday, Ethan Thompson joined Tres in a return to Gill for one more year. Ethan will be a junior this year and after several NBA workouts said he basically treated it as a learning experience. A lot like Tres and his workouts. Both expect to be huge factors in the Beavers expected run at a Pac-12 Championship. Thompson averaged 13.7 points pergame, 5 rebounds and four assists for Oregon State last season.
I included two game highlights in this post. For Thompson, his 23 point performance against the Cougars and for Tres...a dynamic 31-point performance against Utah!!
