The Toronto Raptors surprised many by topping the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of the NBA Finals last night 118-109. Pascal Siakam was dominant scoring 32 points and using his length to disrupt the Warriors attack. Kawhi Leonard scored just 23 points, but was terrific with his decision making and defense.
I think some of the Warriors problems without Kevin Durant were masked in the Western Conference Finals because Portland doesn't have the talent to exploit their weaknesses. Winning game one doesn't guarantee anything for the Raptors, but I do think it shows that this is going to be a long and very competitive series.
What was my big takeaway from the Raptors win? THE TRAIL BLAZERS NEED TO UPGRADE THEIR WINGS. I deal with that and game one of the NBA Finals in the latest episode of the "What's Chad Doing" podcast.
