Authorities in the Dominican Republic released the identity of the man who allegedly paid hitmen to kill former Boston Red Sox star, David Ortiz. Police say that Alberto Miguel Rodriguez Mota met with another suspect, Gabriel Alexander Perez Vizcaíno, a week before the attack to plan the hit.

Vizcaíno worked as a go-between for Mota and Jose Eduardo Ciprián, who is accused of orchestrating the hit from a Dominican prison. Ciprián reportedly sent a text message from his prison cell with a photo of the target to Vizcaíno hours before the attack.

Officials did not release many details about Mota, who is considered a fugitive. Prosecutors say they have determined a motive for the attack and plan to release that information later in the week.

Authorities have ten people in custody and are trying to track down two others.

Ortiz continues to make progress in his recovery but is still in the intensive care unit at Massachusetts General Hospital.
