Oregon State starts football practice tomorrow afternoon in Corvallis. The 2019 season will be here in a flash. Friday night August 30th the Oklahoma State Cowboys come to town. Head coach Jonathan Smith and his players made themselves available today for the local media and there was a lot of positive talk. No surprise. Year two of the Smith era has the earmarks of improvement. The Beavers are deep on offense and the defense (which struggled big time in 2018) has the potential to be much better. If you watch Coach Smith you can see he is upbeat about 2019.
I had a chance to talk to Quarterback Jake Luton. He is thrilled to get a sixth season as a college quarterback and says he is going to make the most of it. He has changed his body through exercise and diet and is excited about the depth of the Oregon State offense.
Defensive back Jalen Moore led the Beavers in tackles last season. That stat is impressive no doubt but I can guarantee Defensive Coordinator Tim Tibesar would love to give that title to a linebacker or defensive lineman in 2019.
We will have a ton of interviews with the Beavers right here on the Rip City radio website. Tomorrow Elu Aydon and Artavic Pierce will join us to talk about the upcoming season
