Beaver scrimmage. Defense looks much improved!!

It was great to see the Oregon State defense show poise and a swagger! On a perfect night for a mid-camp scrimmage at Reser Stadium the Beaver defense was pretty impressive. And the run defense....Oregon Live provides the numbers: Of the 25 runs by the Beavers’ top four running backs, only three went for double-digit yards. Jermar Jefferson, Pierce, B.J. Baylor and Calvin Tyler Jr. combined on 25 carries for 112 yards.

Above Jermar Jefferson who didn't play all that much at the scrimmage showed he is ready for a super Sophomore season. But the defense did create issues for the Beaver offense. Memories of the difficult 2019 season can start to fade for Oregon State if this defense can take what they did last night and continue against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on August 30th. Jonathan Smith liked what he saw last night,

Avery Roberts the transfer from Nebraska who sat out last season was happy to be on the field and says the defense won the night.

Oregon State vs Oklahoma State on August 30th. Now I have never bet a penny on College Football. However, I think its interesting to see what the oddsmakers think. Right now, they say the Cowboys are 15 1/2 point favorites. I say that is fair considering last year's teams. But the 2019 version of the Beavers will be much improved. It makes this opener pretty darn interesting. Pregame coverage on Rip City Radio and 1190 KEX begins at 4:30 on that Friday with kickoff at 7:30....FS1 will carry the game nationally. We will hear from more Oregon State Beavers about the scrimmage. Stay tuned.
