Wilcox: Beavers 52-7 loss to Utah an anomaly!

The Cal Bears have had a bye week to prepare for the Oregon State Beavers. Cal got off to a 4-0 which included two impressive wins. That shocker after the lightning storm in Seattle when they stunned the Huskies 20-19. And they go into SEC country and upset Ole Miss 28-20. The issues for Cal center around an injury to their talented starting QB and their stuggling offense. They are averaging just 20 points per game. The Beaverss average 32. On the flipside they are giving up just 18 points per game thanks to a physical defense led by linebacker EvaN Weaver.

The betting folks say Cal is a ten and a half point favorite. ESPN says Cal has an 81 percent chance to win. I always remember the 2007 win by the Beavers in Berkeley. 31-28. That year the Bears entered the game #2 in the country behind LSU. At halftime it was announced at Memorial Stadium that LSU had lost and all Cal had to do was beat 3-3 Oregon State. The Beavers also heard the announcement and the chants of "We're Number one!". Check out the hightlights of one of the great road wins in Oregon State history. The game also included an incredible goal line stand by the Beaver defense
