The standings in the Pac-12 north tell a good story for the Oregon State Beavers. OSU sits all alone in second place with a 2-2 record. Stanford and the Huskies are 2-3. The Cougs and Cal are 1-3.
Most preseason so-called experts said Oregon State would win two games. Now the Beavers sit at 3-4 overall with five games to go and looking ahead to a BYE week.
The much-maligned defense was outstanding against Cal. Nine sacks and 14 tackles for loss. Avery Roberts led the defense with 13 tackles....eight solo. Riley Sharp was also sharp! The redshirt Freshman from Salt Lake City had five tackles and three sacks. I had a chance to talk to him for the Beaver Sports Network for the first time after the game.
Hamicar Rashed Jr. was also a factor on defense. He had seven tackles and three sacks. The Beavers now will face Arizona in Tucson on November 2nd. The Wildcats travel to Palo Alto next weekend before facing Oregon State. The start time for that game will be announced tomorrow.
