Jonathan Smith told reporters during his weekly news conference that Jermar Jefferson will not redshirt and is trying to get back on the field Saturday in Tucson against the Wildcats. Smith would not say if he will be ready but Smith did say his team had a productive BYE week and one of the priorities was getting players rested and healthy for the final five games of the regular season.
I say "regular season " because one of the reporters brought up the B word to the Beavers second-year coach. The Beavers need three wins in their final five games to go to a bowl game for the first time since the 2013 season. As you will see by watching the news conference he was non-committal and basically will be talked about if the Beavs get to the five-win level with games remaining.
He also is impressed with Kahlil Tate of the Wildcats and added that the impact of Arizona firing their defensive coordinator is an intangible that is hard to measure.
Beavers and Wildcats. Pregame coverage begins at 10:30 am Pacific with kickoff at 1:30 pm on 1190 KEX.
