The Oregon State Beavers are now 2-0 on the season. That is no surprise. The second round game in the preseason WNIT featured a off the charts performance by Brooklyn McDavid of Pacific. She scored 32 points and was 14-20 from the floor.
But this game was never really in doubt. The Beavs were sloppy committing 23 turnovers but Pac-12 Player of the Week Mikayla Pivec was everywhere for Oregon State. 18 points 17 rebounds and spent a lot of time diving after loose basketballs as well. Aleah Goodman contributed 17 points which included four of her signature long-distance three pointers. Destiny Slocum continues to improve at the guard spot finding open lanes and finishing. She had 17. And Freshman Kennedy Brown had a strong effort at crunch time hitting a huge three and blocking four shots.
Taylor Jones the Pac-12 Freshman player of the week was limited in the game due to early foul and had six points in 12 minutes on the floor. She did foul out.
Round three of the preseason WNIT is Thursday at 7:00pm. The Beavers will face 18th ranked DePaul at Gill. A big challenge for the 6/7 ranked team in the Country. The winner will most likely head to Norman, Oklahoma for the WNIT final against the Sooners. Oklahoma hosts Missouri State Thursday. If Missouri State wins the final will be in Corvallis or Chicago.
