----- Hassan Whiteside finishes with 17 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists as the Portland Trail Blazers crush the New York Knicks 115-87 Tuesday night at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.
The New York Knicks are just what the doctor ordered for the struggling Trail Blazers.
Hassan Whiteside recorded a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds and added five-blocks as the Blazers crushed the New York Knicks 115-87.
The Blazers scorched the Nets leading by as many as 32 points. Damian Lillard scored 29 points making 8-of-12 from downtown and Anfernee Simons scored 16 points off the bench making four of his seven shots from three-point range. Portland made 17 of their 41 shots from downtown.
“It was a team we felt we should (beat) on our home floor, but I thought our approach and how we came out, not looking like it was going to be an easy game or nothing like that - we respected our opponent," Lillard said. “We did the right things defensively, we executed our scouting report and offensively we executed as well as we have in a while, maybe all season.”
Carmelo Anthony had a chance to face his former team, he finished with 16 points and four rebounds on 5-of-13 shooting.
“We were locked in, since this morning, since shootaround, we were locked in,” Anthony said. “Dame came out and led us, Hassan played great, but I thought overall defense was what got us going. We were talking, we were active, a lot of energy on the defensive end.”
Up Next- The Trail Blazers travel to Denver to meet the Nuggets on Thursday night at Pepsi Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 PM.
Chad's Take- Thank God I'm not a Knicks fan.
