Andrew Wiggins finished with 23 points and eight assists and Gorgui Dieng added 12 points and 10 rebounds as the Minnesota Timberwolves hammered the Portland Trail Blazers 116-102 Thursday night at Target Center in Minneapolis.
The Trail Blazers led 34-28 after the first, but the Timberwolves used a 26-8 run in the second to take control of the game. Minnesota outscored Portland by 32 in the second and third quarters combined. The Timberwolves held Portland to 13 points on 6-of-22 shooting in the second quarter, the fewest points the Blazers have scored in a quarter this year.
Minnesota put the game away in the third erupting for 41 points building a 90-63 lead.
Damian Lillard led Portland (16-23) with 20 points and CJ McCollum finished with 15 points. Playing with an upper respiratory infection, Hassan Whiteside finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Up Next- The Trail Blazers return home to face the Milwaukee Bucks at Moda Center on Saturday night. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.
