Cougs celebrate Klay Thompson Day by beating Oregon State 89-76

Klay Thompson had a blast. He had his number retired before 10,380 at Friel Court in Pullman. The Cougs took all of the energy and put on a heck of a show for the Golden State alum 89-76 over the Beavers that featured 22 points by Tres Tinkle, 14 by Ethan Thompson and 11 for Kylor Kelley. But Issac Bonton went off on a career day before Thompson and Steph Curry. A day he will never forget.

Tres Tinkle scored 22 points to lead Oregon State in an 89-76 loss to Washington State on Saturday afternoon at Beasley Coliseum.

Ethan Thompson scored 14 points andKylor Kelleyfinished with 11 points and three blocked shots.Sean Miller-Moore went 5-for-5 from the field, including two highlights, to tie a career high with 10 points.Gianni Hunt also played well off the bench with eight points.

Tinkle became the 16th player in Pac-12 history to score 2,000 career points. He had a team-high eight rebounds in the game.

The Beavers (12-6, 2-4 Pac 12) dominated the Cougars inside, winning the battle in the paint 54-32, but gave up 29 fast-break points.

In a back-and-forth first half, Washington State (12-7, 3-3 Pac-12) went on a 9-0 run with 1:31 remaining to take a 46-40 lead at the break.

In the second, Washington State went on a 10-0 run with 7:33 remaining to take a 69-56 lead. Oregon State responded with a 7-0 run of their own to get within six but that was the closest they got.

Isaac Bonton scored a career-high 34 points and CJ Elleby added 22 to lead Washington State.
