Beavers top Cougars on Senior Day 73-58 improve to 22-8!

The Beavers honored their seniors before the regular season finale against Washington State. It was hard not to get choked up. Maddie Washington, Janessa Thropay, Kat Tudor and Mikayla Pivec turned the pregame ceremony into an emotional moment they will never forget. The love for this quartet by Beaver Nation was paramount and then all of a sudden they had to play the Cougs.

The first half was difficult. The Beavers played sluggish basketball and the Cougars led by a point at halftime. But after a halftime chat the Beavers went to work. Trailing 44-42 in the third quarter, the Beavs went on a 19-2 run and took care of business 73-58.

Oregon State now controls their own NCAA Tournament seeding situation. If they can win two games at the Pac-12 tournament in Las Vegas, they have a great shot at hosting the first and second rounds.

They face Washington State again as the six-seed. Thursday night at 8:30. If they can beat the Cougs again they would battle Stanford on Friday. They lost both games to the Cardinal by three points and both games were winnable.

After the game I talked to Mikalya Pivec and Taylor Jones about the season and Senior Day,

Head coach Scott Rueck was pleased with his team's performance and knows there is a lot a stake in Las Vegas this week. He also was pretty emotional talking about his four seniors in the post-game news conference:
