Aron Baynes scored a career high 37 points as the Phoenix Suns hammered the Portland Trail Blazers 127-117 Friday night at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.

Baynes added 16 rebounds and connected on a career-best 9-of-14 from three-point range.

''Exactly how I drew it up this morning,'' Suns Coach Monty Williams said laughing. ''Aron, go for 37. Nine threes. He got the guys going when he started dropping a few of them. Then we started running a few plays for him.''

Phoenix (25-38) connected on 19-of-42 from three-point range and connected on 49.5% of their shots from the field. Dario Saric scored 24 points, Devin Booker finished with 23, and Ricky Rubio finished with 13 points and 10 assists.

The Suns scored 24 points on 16 Trail Blazers' turnovers.

CJ McCollum led Portland (28-36) with 25 points, Damian Lillard scored 24, and Hassan Whiteside finished with 23 points, 20 rebounds, and four blocks.

The game was never in doubt as the Suns raced to a 34-22 lead at the end of the first quarter. Phoenix extended their lead to 59-36 in the second, but Portland cut the deficit to 59-56 thanks to a 20-0 run. The Suns closed the half on an 8-2 run taking a 67-58 lead into the break.

The Suns put the game away with a 21-4 run in the third quarter.

Up Next- The Trail Blazers play the second of a back-to-back tomorrow night at Moda Center against the Sacramento Kings. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.
