Montrezl Harrell had 17 points, and James added 11 rebounds and seven assists as the Lakers avoided their longest losing streak since March 2019.
Damian Lillard scored 24 of his game-high 35 points in the first half, but The Lakers broke open a close game with a 14-4 run led by Schroder late in the third quarter.
The Trail Blazers (18-14) committed 16 turnovers leading to 22 points for the Lakers and Portland connected on just 38.6% of their field goals including just 11-of-37 from three-point range.
Portland has now dropped four-straight games after a season-high six-game winning streak.
