WWE Superstar Andrade Requests Release From Company

WWE superstar Andrade is reported to have requested his release from the company this week.

Wrestling Inc reports Andrade, whose real name is Manuel Alfonso Andrade Oropeza, asked for his release backstage at this week's live broadcast of 'RAW' at Tropicana Stadium.

The website said there has yet to be confirmation on whether the 31-year-old will be granted his release.

Many wrestling fans speculated Andrade was leaving WWE on Friday (March 12) after noticing he dropped "WWE" from his Twitter handle, which led to his name trending on social media, as well as including "wrestler" in his Twitter bio instead of "WWE Superstar."

Andrade does, however, still include "WWE Superstar" in the bio of his Instagram account, which included a new photo of himself in Orlando Friday morning with the caption, “Si no te gusta donde estás muévete no eres un árbol! Feliz fin de semana! If you don’t like where you are, move you are not a tree. Great weekend! #andrade #elidolo #outfit #style #estilo #salud #weekend.”

Andrade hasn't appeared on WWE television since the 2020 WWE Draft in October. He has since taken time off to undergo a minor surgical procedure and was initially reported to be out of action for about a month.

The Gomez Palacio, Mexico never officially selected to 'RAW' or 'SmackDown' during the draft and WWE has provided no additional updates on his status.

Andrade is a former United States and NXT champion, while also having ranked No. 13 among the top 500 singles wrestlers in the PWI 500 in 2018, during his time in WWE.

Prior to signing with WWE in 2015, Andrade found global success under the ring name "La Sombra," which included a decorated run in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre in his native Mexico, as well as competing in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, as one of the founding members of the group 'Los Ingobernables.'

Andrade is also engaged to 11-time Women's Champion (4 'RAW,' 5 SmackDown and 2 NXT) Charlotte Flair, the daughter of two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.
