Timberwolves Edge Trail Blazers

----- Anthony Edwards finished with a game-high 40 points and nine rebounds and Karl-Anthony Towns recorded a double-double with 17 points and a season-high 17 rebounds as the Minnesota Timberwolves edged the Portland Trail Blazers 109-107 Tuesday night at Moda Center in Portland.

Trail Blazers get a reality check after 4-2 road trip!

The Blazers entered Moda Center on Tuesday night feeling good about themselves after a successful 4-2 East Coast trip, but Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns reminded them of where they sit in the Western Conference Standings.

Minnesota (24-23) got 40 points and nine rebounds from Edwards while Towns recorded a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds.

D'Angelo Russell scored 22 points including the go-ahead bucket with 2.1 seconds remaining and Jarred Vanderbilt played a physical game finishing with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Anfernee Simons missed a three-pointer at the buzzer that would have won the game.

Portland (20-27) got 20 points and eight rebounds from Nassir Little before he left the game late with a shoulder injury and Jusuf Nurkic recorded his sixth-straight double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds.

The Timberwolves trailed for much of the game until pulling in front heading into the fourth quarter. They extended their lead with a three-pointer from D'Angelo Russell to make it 102-95 with 4:26 left.

Norman Powell made a pair of free throws to pull Portland within 106-104 with 54.3 seconds left. Russell then made one on a pair of free throws. CJ McCollum then tied the game at 107 with a three-pointer with 10.2 seconds left.

Up Next- The Trail Blazers will play the second of a home back-to-back tomorrow night at Moda Center against the Dallas Mavericks. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.
