Lillard Carries Blazers Past Spurs

----- Damian Lillard finished with 37 points and Jusuf Nurkic added 15 points, seven rebounds, and six assists as the Portland Trail Blazers topped the San Antonio Spurs 128-112 Wednesday night at AT&T Center in San Antonio.

Damian Lillard continued his hot-streak Wednesday night as the Portland Trail Blazers won their third-straight game 128-112 over the San Antonio Spurs.

Lillard finished with 37 points and eight assists on 7-of-14 shooting from three-point range. In his last four-games, he has averaged 37.8 points per game on 54.5% shooting from the field.

Lillard is now 71 points away from passing Clyde Drexler on the Trail Blazers all-time scoring list. He is on pace to break the record Saturday in Houston against the Rockets with Drexler in attendance. He is part of the Rockets broadcast team.

“His pace, his change of speed is so good right now,” coach Chauncy Billups said. “In pick-and-rolls, he’s keeping the defense off kilter so well. Obviously, he’s such a threat to shoot it from wherever, but he’s getting to that basket and he’s making that extra play, the passes for the team. He’s setting an incredible tone for us every night.”

Portland has now won five of their last six games and during that stretch have had the NBA's most efficient offense.

“We’re not going to have the No. 1 efficiency when your best player is not playing,” Billups said. “So, you’ve got to give him a lot of that credit.”

The Spurs pulled to within 85-78 late in the third but back-to-back threes from Lillard helped the Blazers maintain control of the game.
