Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with a game-high 27 points and Josh Giddy added 13 points, six rebounds, and six assists as the Oklahoma City Thunder make it back-to-back over the Blazers with a 101-98 win Wednesday night at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
Damian Lillard struggled following his record-breaking night on Monday scoring just 16 points. He missed his first six-shots and connected on just 6-of-19 from the floor including an abysmal 2-of-11 from three-point range.
The Thunder led 99-98 in the final minute. Oklahoma City's Josh Giddey rebounded his miss, but Lillard tied him up and forced a jump ball that Portland won. Lillard missed a difficult 18-foot fadeaway, and the Thunder rebounded with 0.9 seconds remaining. Gilgeous-Alexander made two free throws with 0.3 seconds left, and Anfernee Simons couldn't get the final shot off prior to the buzzer sounding.
The key stat OKC's two wins over Portland, Thunder held a +30 advantage at the free throw line. They were the aggressor and were rewarded for it by the officials.
