Anfernee Simons And Trendon Watford Lead Blazers Past Wizards

----- Anfernee Simons finished with a team-high 33 points and Trendon Watford added 21 points and five assists off the bench as the Portland Trail Blazers overcame a 18-point halftime deficit to defeat the Washington Wizards 124-116 Friday night at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.

Simons scored 20 points in the third quarter powering a 39-25 run Portland run. He connected on 6-of-7 from beyond-the-arc in the period. The Blazers scored 73-points in the second half.

Simons finished the night 11-of-19 from the field including 9-of-12 from three-point range.

Damian Lillard finished with 29 points and six assists and Josh Hart had a big night with 21 points and nine rebounds.

Portland (26-26) shot 48.9 % from the field including 17-of-41 from three-point range.

With Jusuf Nurkic (calf) and Gary Payton II (illness) out of action, Chauncy Billups had to rely on his bench to boost his short-handed team.

Trendon Watford responded with 21 points and five assists. He connected on 9-of-12 from the field and added one steal.

Josh Hart gave the Blazers their first lead at 102-101 with 7:41 remaining in the game. Bradley Beal briefly gave the Wizards the lead back at 103-102, but a Simons three-pointer with 6:32 remaining put the Blazers up for good.

The Wizards jumped out to an early 15-2 lead, and they led 34-14 after a 3-pointer by Kristaps Porzingis. He scored 16 points in the opening quarter.

Up Next- The Trail Blazers will play the second of a back-to-back tomorrow in Chicago against the Bulls. The game is scheduled to tip off at 5:00 PM.
