For the first time in 11-years, the Portland Trail Blazers opened a season without Damian Lillard in uniform. They traded him to Milwaukee in September, ending a run in Portland that included seven All-Star selections and eight playoff appearances.
Paul George finished with 27 points and six assists and Kawhi Leonard added 23 points and six assists as the Los Angeles Clippers cruised to a 123-111 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers Wednesday night at Cryto.com Arena.
The Clippers controlled the game from the start and never trailed. They led by 30 in the second half. Seven of their first eight baskets were dunks, with five different players contributing.
Scoot Henderson made his NBA debut going scoreless in the first half. He finished with 11 points and four assists on 5-of-11 shooting.
Malcolm Brogdon led the Blazers in scoring with 20 points and Anfernee Simons added 18 points and four assists on 6-of-14 shooting, and DeAndre Ayton had four points and 12 rebounds.
Portland (0-1) connected on just 10-of-32 from beyond-the-arc.
