Shaedon Sharpe scored a team-high 29 points while adding seven rebounds and five assists as the Portland Trail Blazers used a strong second half to defeat the Pistons 110-101 Wednesday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
Former Piston Jeremi Grant added 24 points for the Trail Blazers, and Deandre Ayton had 16 points, 11 rebounds five steals and a block in his first game against Pistons coach Monty Williams since they both left the Phoenix Suns.
Cade Cunningham scored a game-high 30 points for Detroit, but connected on just 11-of-27 from the field while committing six turnovers. The Pistons scored just 42 points on 37.8% shooting in the second half.
Portland trailed by 12 at halftime, but outscored the Pistons 36-25 to pull to 84-83 at the end of the third. Sharpe had 15 points in the quarter.
Cunningham had five points in the first two minutes of the fourth. but the Trail Blazers took a 94-93 lead on Jeremi Grant's three-pointer with 6:51 to play. The Blazers closed the game on a 16-8 run.
Notes- Scoot Henderson left the game (right ankle sprain). He finished with 11 points and seven assists in 20 minutes. Coach Billups said he was sore after the game but no update was given on his status for Friday's game against Memphis.
Up Next- The Trail Blazers return home to meet the Memphis Grizzlies Friday night at Moda Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.
