Spurs Rope Trail Blazers

----- Anfernee Simons scored a game-high 40 points, but it's not enough as the Spurs use a strong second half to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 116-100 Friday night at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, TX.

Trail Blazers run out of gas in San Antonio!

Jeremy Sochan finished with 31 points and 14 rebounds and Victor Wembanyana added 23 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists as the San Antonio Spurs handed the Portland Trail Blazers a 116-100 loss Friday night in San Antonio.

The Trail Blazers trailed by just five-points at 62-57 entering the third quarter but lost two key players in the first half. Jerami Grant (Back Soreness) and Scoot Henderson (Quad Contusion) left the game and did not return. That left the team short-handed who were already without Malcolm Brogdon who was unavailable for the game.

San Antonio (9-36) closed the third quarter on a 21-12 run taking a 10-point lead at 88-78 into the fourth quarter. The Spurs put the game away by opening the fourth on a 10-2 run pushing their lead to 98-80. The Trail Blazers never threatened the rest of the way.

Anfernee Simons finished with 40 points 10 assists becoming the sixth player in franchise history to accomplish that feat.

Portland (13-32) finished up their four-game road trip at 1-3.

Up Next- The Trail Blazers return home to face the Chicago Bulls on Sunday evening at Moda Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 6:00 PM.

Chad's Take- No Brogdon and both Scoot and Grant exit the game early. Portland ran out of gas at the end of their road trip.
