----- Deandre Ayton scored a team-high 24 points and Jabari Walker grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds as the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Charlotte Hornets 89-86 Wednesday night at Spectrum Center in Charlotte.
Deandre Ayton recorded a double-double with 24 points and 16 rebounds, Scoot Henderson finished with 22 points and 10 assists, and Jabari Walker added a career-high 22 rebounds as the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Charlotte Hornets Wednesday night in Charlotte.
Charlotte led 70-69 with 10:24 to play in the game, their first lead since early in the first quarter. Portland responded with an 8-2 run to take a 77-72 lead with 6:47 to play.
With the game tied at 81, the Trail Blazers got back-to-back buckets to take a four-point lead at 85-81.
Walker secured his final rebound on the night after a Brandon Miller miss and then sank two free throws to give the Trail Blazers an 89-86 lead with 1.7 seconds remaining.
Davis Bertans missed an open three-pointer at the buzzer preserving the win for Portland.
Miller was selected just ahead of Henderson in the 2023 NBA Draft. He finished with 21 points on 9-of-20 shooting.
