Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady was heavily booed while making his FOX Sports broadcasting debut at the UFL Championship Game in St. Louis on Sunday (June 16).
Brady, 46, was presenting the MVP Trophy to Birmingham Adrian Martinez after his team's 25-0 win against the San Antonio Stallions to win its third consecutive league championship when he was met with boos from the fans in attendance.
"Loud boos for Tom Brady presenting the UFL Championship game MVP at the Dome in St. Louis. We haven’t forgotten about Spygate 20 years later #UFL," the St. Louis Chatter X account wrote, referencing Brady's New England Patriots were found to have videotaped opposing coaches' signals during games, which included the then-St. Louis Rams, along with a video captured from Sunday's UFL Championship Game.
Brady won his first Super Bowl against the Rams in 2002. The 46-year-old was spotted on the field speaking with Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner, the opposing Rams quarterback in Super Bowl XXXVI and a past outspoken critic of the validity of the Patriots' win given the later Spygate scandal, prior to Sunday's UFL game.
Brady appeared in the booth during the second quarter of the UFL Championship Game broadcast alongside play-by-play man Curt Menefee and analyst Joel Klatt. The San Mateo native is set to become FOX Sports' lead NFL analyst as part of a deal that was agreed to take place following the conclusion of his playing career, having taken a gap year to spend time with his family and prepare for the job.
Brady is the NFL's all-time passing leader for yards and touchdowns, as well as quarterback wins, among numerous other records.
