Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love could play in Sunday's (September 22) game against the Tennessee Titans despite a knee injury that was initially anticipated to be worse, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Thursday (September 19).
"Despite what was projected to be a 3-to-4 week absence due to his knee injury, there is a chance that Packers QB Jordan Love can make it back in time to start Sunday at the Titans. 'I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays this week,' said one source. 'It’s definitely day-by-day like he said, and 50-50 at best right now.' But the larger point might be that, even if Love cannot make it back by Sunday, he’ll have a realistic chance to return next week at home vs. the Vikings, which would mark a two-game absence," Schefter wrote on his X account.
Love, 25, who signed a four-year, $220 million extension in July, was helped off the field by Packers staff with six seconds remaining in the team's Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and was replaced by backup Malik Willis. The former first-round pick finished the game with 260 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 17 of 34 passing.
Willis threw for 122 yards and one touchdown on 12 of 14 passing, as well as recorded 41 yards on six rushing attempts, in Love's absence during the Packers' 16-10 Week 2 win against the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday (September 15).
