Spurs Use A Fourth Quarter Surge To Edge Trail Blazers

------ The San Antonio Spurs used a 30-11 fourth quarter run to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 118-116 Friday night at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.

Victor Wembanyama finished with 32 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists and Devin Vassell added 23 points as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 118-116 Friday night at Moda Center.

Jerami Grant led Portland with 32 points and Anfernee Simons added 30 points and seven assists. Deni Avdija added 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Down 10-points at halftime, the Trail Blazers made their move. Grant scored 22 points in the third leading Portland to their best period of basketball on the season. He connected on 8-of-10 from the field and 6-of-7 from beyond-the-arc. It was a career-high for points in a quarter for Grant.

Portland (9-16) used an 18-8 at the start of the quarter to tie the game and then closed the quarter on a 16-8 run to take an 88-80 lead into the fourth. The Trail Blazers outscored the Spurs 46-28 in the third while and connected on 79% of their shots.

The Trail Blazers opened the fourth on a 12-3 run and pushed their lead to 14 at 100-86.

San Antonio (12-13) used a 20-9 run to cut Portland's lead to three at 109-106 with 3:41 left in the game.

The Spurs extended their run to 26-9 to take a 112-109 lead with 2:05 left. Jerami Grant would respond with another three-pointer to tie the game at 112 with 1:06 remaining.

Devin Vassell scored on a baseline jumper to give the Spurs a two-point lead at 116-114 with 12.2 seconds on the clock.

Victor Wembanyama was fouled with 2.4 seconds remaining and connected on two free throws. Deni Avdija's half court heave at the buzzer was wide and the spurs held on for the win.

San Antonio closed the game on a 30-11 run.

Up Next- The Trail Blazers will travel to Phoenix to meet the Suns on Sunday evening. The game is scheduled to tip off at 5:00 PM.
