Ben Maller: “This is another one of these stories that is corroboration of a long-standing theory that we have had that LeBron James has become so powerful, so Omnipresent, and has so much juice that he has free reign, and he uses Rich Paul as the front man. King James has been given the latitude to impulsively influence the entire migration of players in the NBA… The NBA has allowed him to have this power, and he’s able to manipulate it. Who WOULDN’T do that if the people who COULD stop it, DIDN'T stop it? On the other hand, where have the grown-ups gone?? Nobody at the Players Associations is like ‘Hey, this isn’t good for the players’?? Nobody has the machismo to call out Klutch Sports and LeBron, and instead we get these comments off the record without names being attached… LeBron is the ‘recruiter’ who uses his Jedi mind control to hypnotize these guys into following his train of thought, and he then dispatches his henchmen to do the dirty work. Rich Paul is the guy who moves the jigsaw puzzle pieces around in order to help out The King.” (Full Audio Above)
Listen to Ben Maller discuss a recent article that ran in The Athletic this week that presented a revealing, and quite damning perspective on LeBron James’ presence in the league, and potentially shady, and illicit activity from the agency he played a large role in forming, Klutch Sports.
The NBA agents also took shots at LeBron himself, saying he does well with his community outreach, but added that he has an ‘insatiable ego’, and saying that his public image was ‘choreographed’ and ‘too obviously rehearsed and planned’, adding that he 'has an obsession with creating a legacy instead of letting the legacy create itself.'
Some of the other revealing blasts were accusing LeBron of doing Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul’s ‘dirty work’ and literally acting as an agent for Klutch Sports, and recruiting players to the agency. The agent added that 'It’s this façade that it’s Rich Paul, but it’s really LeBron who recruits for Rich Paul. So it’s almost like they’re trying to control AAU at the NBA level.' The agent also said of LeBron's life-long friend, 'If Rich Paul were a lawyer, he’d be disbarred five times. But because LeBron is so powerful, there is no accountability.'
The agents told The Athletic that LeBron and Klutch Sports need to be called out by the Players Union:
“There’s at least five or six massive casualties. Nobody is saying anything and you can even say that the union should take some responsibility because they represent all of the players, not just LeBron. Because this is anonymous. I hope you have the courage to put this out there, because nobody is talking about this but this is the reality, and if you ask any other agent what I just said, they would all agree.”
