Beavers lack "Big Push" in loss to CSU

A tale of two halves in Fort Collins. I really thought after my conversation with Gary Andersen walking off the field right at the end of the second quarter that this was going to be a down-to-the-wire football game. however, turnovers and an inability to run the ball and stop the Rams offense turned the game into a second half rout. After reviewing the stats from the  game....this was undoubtedly a key factor.

Besides Ryan Nall's impressive 75-yard touchdown run to give the Beavers what turned out to be their final lead in the game at 17-14 with 10:57 to go in the second quarter..........the Beavers ran the ball 28 times and  picked up just 77 yards. Not what many of us thought would happen against the Rams.

Coach Gary Andersen talked about what he called a "beatdown" in his post-game interview on 11909 KEX and the Beaver Sports Network. Five turnovers and the lack of push on both sides of the ball has Andersen and his coaching staff concerned. But give credit to the Rams. If they take care of Rocky Mountain rival Colorado Friday....they could be a tremendous team. Its so early and the Beavs can't let one loss dissuade their development.  You can hear Gary's interview on the page below!

So now the Beavers leave us with a ton of questions about both the offensive and defensive lines. Portland State kept up with BYU in Provo....Gary Andersen is correct. This team needs to bounce back...shake off that loss in Fort Collins and make a statement next Saturday in the home opener against the Vikings. Live pregame coverage begins at 7:am with Travis Demers and Chad Dewing live outside Reser....Kickoff at 11:05am
