10th ranked Beavers top Wildcats 86-64!

Nice win by the Beavers over Arizona last night 86-64. The game was close in the first quarter but OSU has so many weapons and it paid off. Destiny Slocum had four three pointers and Taya Corosdale had a career 4 threes on four shots! After the game I chatted with Taya and Katie McWilliams who had such a smart game making great choices and contributing 10 points of her own.

Huge game tomorrow on the Pac-12 Network. The 15-2 Beavs now 5-0 in the Pac-12.

Here is the official game story from OSU Athletics:

The No. 10 Oregon State women's basketball team moved to 5-0 in Pac-12 play with an 86-64 win over Arizona Friday evening at Gill Coliseum.

"It was a great crowd and a great win," said Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck. "I think we prepared well and executed will. Arizona played an excellent game – they scored a variety of ways and they made us pay for our mistakes. I was proud of our team for gaining momentum in the second quarter, and again in the second half. We took care of the basketball and eliminated fouls, and this team keeps getting better. I'm really proud of them."

Redshirt-sophomore Destiny Slocum finished with 24 points, hitting four 3-pointers and all four of her free throws to notch her fifth 20+ point game of the season. Junior Mikayla Pivec filled the stat sheet, going for 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal.

Sophomore Taya Corosdale narrowly missed a double-double, hitting a career-high four 3-pointers to record 14 points and nine rebounds.

Senior Katie McWilliams scored 11 points on 4-for-7 shooting. Overall, Oregon State shot 53.6 percent in the game, and 47.8 percent from 3-point range. The Beavers held a 38-23 advantage in rebounds.

Oregon State scored eight unanswered points early in the first quarter to go in front 11-2. Arizona battled back with an 8-0 run of its own to get back within one, before the Beavers took a 19-18 edge into the second quarter. Five of OSU's six field goals in the opening frame came from beyond the arc.

The teams traded baskets through the early portion of the second quarter, before the Beavers hit five-straight field goals to end the half on a 13-2 run to head to the break up 37-28. Pivec led the Beavers with 10 first half points, after playing all 20 minutes. Corosdale hit three triples in the first half to head to the locker room with nine points and six rebounds. Oregon State picked up right where it left off to start the second half, scoring eight-straight points to get the lead to 17.

The Beavers took a 60-49 advantage into the closing frame. The Beavers quickly stretched the lead to 20 in the final period, on their way to the 22-point win. The Beavers will remain at home Sunday for a matchup with No. 19 Arizona State. That game is slated to tip at 2 p.m. and will be carried live on Pac-12 Networks.
