It was a classic basketball game between two of the elite programs in the country. Oregon State and Gonzaga battled like two heavyweight champs. The Beavs will their way to a fourth straight trip to the Sweet Sixteen by scoring 26 points in the fourth quarter and topping the Zags 76-70.
5,478 fans were in a frenzy in the fourth quarter and I believe were a factor in making Gonzaga a little uncomfortable. Mikayla Pivec was epic for Oregon State with 19 points 11 rebounds and sis assists. Taya Corosdale had a clutch three at crunch time and wound up with 12 points and seven boards. Maddie Washington started at the post and was solid. 12 points and six rebounds for the junior from Las Vegas. Destiny Slocum once again got into early foul trouble but in the second half was outstanding in getting Oregon State untracked offensively. Aleah Goodman also with 12 points and 7-8 from the foul line at critical stages of the contest. The Beavers leave tomorrow for Albany NY and a chance for a little payback. They face the #1 seed Louisville. The Cardinals eliminated Oregon State in the Elite eight last spring. Tip off a little after 6:pm on Friday.
