Oregon State's late season struggles continued into the post-season and it cost them dearly. Creighton takes care of the Beavers in the elimination game at Goss Stadium 4-1 and the defending National Champs are finished in 2019. Losing seven of their final 12 games and just leaving too many runners on base. Defensively they just weren't the team they were earlier in the season and the pitching was ok but no lights out. So now the questions about whats next are of course all over sociai media. Will Pat Casey return as the head coach? Adley Rutschman got a nice standing ovation in what will most likely be his final at bat as a Beaver. The Major League Baseball Draft is tomorrow at Adley is projected as a possible #1 pick of course.
Here is a recap of the finale courtesy of Oregon State Athletics:
The Beavers' season, with the loss, comes to an end at 36-20-1. Creighton (39-12), meanwhile, advanced to Sunday's action and will play at noon.
Taylor was 2-for-3 with a double while McGarry finished 2-for-4.Andy Armstrong drove in Oregon State's lone run with a sac fly in the fourth inning.
That pulled the Beavers to within a 3-1 mark, but the Bluejays scored a solo run in the seventh for the final tally.
Grant Gambrell started for Oregon State and took the loss to drop to 5-3 this season. He allowed five hits and three runs in 4 1/3 innings. His counterpart, Evan Johnson, improved to 9-2 after limiting the Beavers to three hits and a run with five walks and three strikeouts. John Sakowski held Oregon State scoreless over 3 1/3 to earn his third save of the season.
A look at whereAdley Rutschman stands in the Pac-12 record books in terms of walks for a single-season:
