Beavers offense sputters losing Pac-12 opener to Utah!

First of all, the highlight package put together by the Pac-12 network must have been assembled by a Utah alum working in the office. Not one Oregon State highlight. Ridiculous. The Beavers did have their moments. Tres Tinkle did have 19 points and eight boards but also suffered from a serious scoring drought for most of the second half when he needed it. Zac Reichle also contributed 15 points but was cold from his usual strength area and that is three-point land. Ethan Thompson had 15 points as well but the trio combined for 2-12 from behind the three point line. 81-69 the final and the game just had a bad vibe throughout.

The Beavers start their Pac-12 campaign in disappointing fashion. Next up Colorado on Sunday. The Buffaloes take down Oregon 74-65 last night. Pregame coverage with Mike Parker begins at 2:30 pm from Boulder with the tip around 3:05 pm

Here is the official release on the game from Oregon State Athetics:

Tres Tinkle scored 19 points and Ethan Thompson and Zach Reichleadded 15 apiece, but it wasn't enough as Utah defeated Oregon State, 81-69, in the Pac-12 opener for both teams on Thursday evening at the Huntsman Center.

Kylor Kelley grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds and blocked five shots.Alfred Hollins added eight points and Gianni Hunt chipped in six points off the bench.

The Beavers (10-3, 0-1 Pac-12) took an early seven-point advantage before the Utes (10-3, 1-0) rallied to take a 39-32 lead at the break.

Oregon State cut the deficit to three points multiple times in the second half, the final time on a fast break layup from Antoine Vernon that brought the Beavers to within 54-51.

Utah used a 16-5 run to extend its lead to 70-55 with 5:31 left. Riley Battin sparked the run with a 3-point play and Both Gach added the biggest highlight with a dunk off a steal. Battin and Gach combined for four baskets in that decisive stretch.

Timmy Allen posted a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead Utah.

The Beavers will next play Colorado at 3 p.m. PT on Sunday at the CU Events Center in Boulder. The game will televised nationally on ESPNU.
