With the NBA Trade deadline 11 days away, the Blazers were expected to be active. They made their first move of the season Sunday.
According to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Blazers have agreed to send C Mason Plumlee along with a 2018 second round pick to the Denver Nuggets, in exchange for C Jusuf Nurkic and a 2017 first round pick. Plumlee will be a restricted free agent following the season, and it's been widely speculated the Blazers would not be able to re-sign him considering they are already over the salary cap and luxury tax based on the current projections.
Nurkic will make 1.9 Million this year, with a salary of $2.9 Million next year before becoming a restricted free agent following the 2017-19 season. The first round pick heading back to Portland is via Memphis, and top 5 protected.
The deal is not official until the league office approves it.
