Bradley Beal Smokes the Blazers

----- Bradley Beal sets a record as he scores 51 points in the Wizards 106-92 win over the Blazers Tuesday night at Moda Center.

Bradley Beal was awesome Tuesday night. He became the first player to score 50 points in Portland on an opposing team as the Washington Wizards handed the Portland Trail Blazers their third-straight loss with a 106-92 win Tuesday night at Moda Center.

Beal bested his career-high of 42 points by scoring 51 points on 21-of-37 shooting including 5-for-12 from three-point range. Beal scored 19 of his 51 points in the third quarter when the Wizards seized control of the game.

The Wizards took control in the second quarter on an 18-7 run in the final 6:56 of the first half including the last seven points of the quarter to take a 51-37 advantage into halftime. The Wizards opened up the third quarter on a 10-1 run to take their biggest lead of the game at 61-48. The Blazers were never able to mount a serious comeback after falling behind by 23 points.

Washington (13-11) was supposed to be the tired team after getting trounced 116-69 by the Jazz in Utah on Monday night, but they were the aggressors early in the game outplaying the Blazers with more energy, effort, and emotion.

Portland (13-11) has now dropped three-straight games at home after winning three-straight games on the road. The Blazers were sloppy most of the night committing 19 turnovers, 11 of those coming in the second quarter when the Wizards were able to build a double-digit lead.

Damian Lillard led the Blazers with 30 points while Al-Farouq Aminu added 17 points and six rebounds. Jusuf Nurkic finished the night with 15 points and nine rebounds but suffered a sprained ankle in the second half. X-rays taken after the game were negative. His status for Saturday's game against Houston is unknown at this time.

Next up- The Trail Blazers will get three days off before hosting the Houston Rockets Saturday night at Moda Center. Game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.

Chad's take- This loss was unacceptable. The Blazers showed no emotion or fight as Bradley Beal was torching them for 51 points. Worst part, my mind actually wandered during the game and no one loves basketball more than me. Right now, the Blazers are a bad team that plays a boring brand of basketball.
