Grizzlies Explode In 4th, Drop Blazers 112-100

----- Desmond Bane scored a game-high 30 points as the Memphis Grizzlies get their first win of the season 112-100 Sunday night at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.

It took longer than expected, but the Memphis Grizzlies finally got over the hump to record their first win of the year Sunday night at Moda Center 112-100 over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Desmond Bane led Memphis (1-6) with 30 points and was the main Catalyst in the fourth quarter when Memphis provided the knockout punch with a 26-2 run over the final 8:13 of the game.

“We've been competing, growing and learning a lot. A lot of people are getting new opportunities,” Bane said. "I'm happy with where we're headed and how we played tonight."

Jaren Jackson Jr. finished with 27 points and seven rebounds and Luke Kenard added 15 off the bench assisting Bane on the offensive end.

“You've got to celebrate, you know how hard it is to win this league. We’re going to enjoy this one for sure,” Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said. “It’s been a difficult first couple of weeks. But as I’ve said, our guys are resilient. They respond. We’ve been competitive every single night, sometimes it hasn’t gone our way.”

Jerami Grant led Portland (3-4) with 27 points, Malcolm Brogdon recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 assists, and Shaedon Sharpe finished with 18 points and five rebounds.

Grant's three-pointer gave Portland a commanding 98-86 lead with 8:13 remaining, but that would be the Blazers final field goal of the game.

Memphis went on a 9-0 run to get within 98-95 with 5:26 left, then tied it at 100 on Jackson's dunk. He scored again to put the Grizzlies in front and they led the rest of the way.

The Grizzlies closed the game on a 26-2 run.

Notes- Scoot Henderson missed his second-straight game (sprained right ankle). No update has been given on his status for Wednesday's game.

Up Next- The Trail Blazers will travel to Sacramento to meet the Kings on Wednesday evening. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.

Chad's Take- Still can't believe the Trail Blazers didn't record a field goal in the final 8:13 of the game.
